Two Words...

Just win.

That's it. Short and sweet. No obscure music lyrics or movie references. Just win. That's all that matters. If this team is going to get where they want to go, it's absolutely essential that they win these two games.

WCHA teams are hard to play in non-conference games. Wins are tough to come by in the WCHA, so it's very important that teams get every win they can in non-conference play.

The team with the weakest schedule in the WCHA last year finished 10th nationally in strength of schedule. Needless to say, the 75% of the RPI that focuses on strength of schedule has never really been a problem for the Mavericks. It's that other 25% of the equation, the part that looks at actual winning percentage that has always been the problem. Last year, the Mavericks spent most of the year with the best strength of schedule in the country, but only the 45th best winning percentage. It averaged out to about 25th in the RPI. Imagine where they would have been had they been able to scrape out a couple more wins and finished with a .500 record.

It may sound like a lot of math, but really, it's quite plain and simple: just win.
