Bowling Green? Who the Hell is that?

They have won one National Championship, in 1984, and they appeared in the Frozen Four in 1978 as well. They have won the CCHA Regular Season titles in 1976, 1978, 1979, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, and the CCHA Tournament Championships in 1973, 1977, 1978, 1979, and 1988. The Falcons are led by a pair of Sophomores in Dan Sexton(5-10-15)and David Solway(7-7-14). In net all fourteen games that the Falcons have played has been Jimmy Spratt(.876, 3.19,) and has led his team to a 5-7-2 start, as well as 4-5-1 in the CCHA. Four of the five Falcon wins have been at BGSU Ice Arena, and they have only lost twice there.

It looks like a very managable pair of games for the Mavericks, who if they want to be National Title contenders, these are the types of games that must be won. Go get a sweep Mavericks, and continue this season on a roll.

Here Come The Tigers...

Well, CC is coming to town after suffering their first loss this season at home against the University of North Dakota. The Tigers are lead in scoring by assistant captain Chad Rau who has scored five goals and tallied eight assists for 13 points. CC's second leading scorer, senior Eric Walsky has seven goals and five assists, for 12 points. The Tigers also bring to town argueably the best goaltender in the WCHA in Richard Bachman, who in nine games has a 5-1-3 record, as well as a .946 save percentage and a 1.73 goals against average. CC always plays the Mavs well, and hopefully the Mavs can snag a victory or two at home against the 3rd ranked Tigers.

Minnesota State Gets Quartet of Men’s Hockey Commitments During Early Signing Period; Mavericks Add Two Forwards, a Defensemen and a Goaltender

Mankato, Minn. --- Men’s hockey coach Troy Jutting has announced that four student-athletes have signed NCAA Letters of Intent to attend Minnesota State University.

Committing to MSU during the NCAA early signing period are goaltender Kevin Murdock (Bradenton, Fla.,/Lincoln (USHL)), defenseman Danny Heath (Glendale, Ariz./Tri-City (USHL)) and forwards Tyler Pitlick (Centerville, Minn./Centennial (USHS)) and Eli Zuck (Anchorage, Alaska/Tri-City (USHL)).

Member of 2008 US 18-under team...Member 2007 US 18-under Team...Attended USA Hockey Select 15, 16 and 17 National Festivals...Tallied 25 goals and 34 assists for 59 points as a junior at Centennial High School in 2007-08...Led 2008 Elite League in goals...Nephew of former National Hockey defenseman Lance Pitlick (16-33--49 in 393 games with Ottawa and Florida from 1994-2002).

In first year with Tri-City Storm and currently ranks second on team in scoring with 4-8--12 in 11 games...Graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Faribault, Minn., where the Sabres won back-to-back U18 national championships in 2007 and 2008 ...Tallied 27-47--74 in 60 games as senior with SSM.
